Defend NM Water is organizing to oppose the reuse of fracking waste at the WQCC hearing next week. Thank you everyone who has signed on to Defend NM Water against fracking waste contamination! The hearing on the fracking waste reuse rule at the Water Quality Control Commission will begin next week.
The most important action we can take this week is to share the following link to get as many people signed up for public comment as possible: https://forms.gle/bMvni7gSRFiYJjNC9
Here are talking points if you want to learn more, and an FAQ for more details, and here is a great toolkit for further help to develop public comment.
Finally, help us build the Defend NM Water list by signing and sharing our petition at https://bit.ly/defend-nm-water, which will help us collect contacts of more people who care about this issue. The petition will be shared with the Water Quality Control Commission and delivered to the Governor and NMED at the conclusion of the hearing next week.

Folks should sign up beforehand by emailing pamela.jones@state.nm.us to let the administrator know which day you are planning to speak.
We asked directly if folks NEEDED to sign up ahead of time. Pamela, the Administrator for the hearing said that they DO NOT, though it is appreciated. She said if someone jumps into a public hearing without first emailing her to indicate their intention to participate, they should just CHAT the Administrator in the meeting and let her know that they want to be added to the list.
Folks can submit as many written comments as they'd like before the end of the hearing but may only give one oral testimony. Please submit written comments here.
Thank you for helping to protect New Mexico water!
